Handmade Ceramic Bowl Set – Artisan Craft for Everyday Moments
A ceramic bowl set designed around a simple question which form suits this meal? Each bowl in the This or That set comes in two versions: deep or shallow. Three sizes, two choices each. The Little One, Somewhere in the Middle, and The Not So Little One are a complete handmade this set for every table moment, from a small dish of chutney to a generous salad for four.
The This or That ceramic bowl set - what's in it
This handmade ceramic bowl set is built around a decision. Every bowl in the set has two sides, a deep form and a shallow form, because different meals need different depths. Soup needs a deep bowl. Salad needs a wide, shallow one. This or That gives you both in a single ceramic bowl set, across three sizes.
The Little One's small bowl
The smallest piece in this set. Made for dips, chutneys, single-serve desserts, small portions of snacks, or a side of pickle that belongs on every Indian table. The bowl you reach for without thinking.
Deep side: 4.75in × 1.5in
Shallow side: 4.5in × 1.25in
Somewhere in the middle of the medium bowl
The everyday bowl of this set. right for dal, soup, cereal, pasta, rice, or anything that needs a proper bowl with room to eat from comfortably. The most-used piece in any kitchen.
Deep side: 6in × 2.25in
Shallow side: 5in × 0.75in
The Not So Little One large bowl
The generous piece of this set. Built for the centre of the table salads, fruit, sharing portions of pasta or biryani, or anything meant to be passed around. Wide enough to be a serving bowl. Personal enough to be a meal bowl.
Wide side: 7.5in × 0.75in
Shallow side: 6in × 0.25in
Why choose a handmade ceramic bowl set?
A handmade ceramic bowl set is not made in a mould. Each bowl in the This or That set is thrown individually on a potter's wheel in our studio in Ahmedabad, India shaped by hand, trimmed, glazed with finishes we develop ourselves, and fired in a gas kiln. This process means no two pieces in any ceramic bowl set are exactly the same. The glaze breaks differently on each one. The weight sits slightly differently in your hand. These are not imperfections, they are the difference between something made and something manufactured.
Built for daily use, not just display
Every piece in this ceramic bowl set is lead-free, food-safe, and completely non-toxic. The glazed surface is non-porous; it does not absorb food residue, stains, or odours. All three bowls are dishwasher-safe, oven-safe, and microwave-safe. This handmade ceramic bowl set is designed for real kitchens, not display cabinets. It will look the same in five years as it does today.
A ceramic bowl set that makes a lasting gift
A handmade ceramic bowl set is one of the most considered gifts you can give. It is used every day, not put on a shelf and forgotten. Every morning chai bowl, every lunch, every dinner the This or That ceramic bowl set becomes part of someone's daily rhythm in a way that most gifts never do.
Popular as a housewarming gift, wedding gift, Diwali gift, or birthday present for anyone who cooks, hosts, or simply appreciates handmade objects in their home. Each ceramic bowl set is packed carefully and shipped across India. Gift wrapping available on request.
How to care for your ceramic bowl set
- Dishwasher safe: All three bowls in the ceramic bowl set can go in the dishwasher. Hand washing with mild soap is recommended for long-term glaze preservation.
- Oven safe: Safe to use in the oven at moderate temperatures. Avoid sudden extreme temperature changes. Do not move a cold bowl directly into a very hot oven.
- Microwave safe: Safe to reheat food and liquids in the microwave.
- Stacking: Place a soft cloth between bowls when stacking to protect the glaze and rims over time.
- Glaze variations: Minor colour and texture differences between pieces in the set are natural, each bowl is individually made and fired. This is not a defect but a feature of studio pottery.
